Our Teachers

  • In 2008, I discovered hot yoga as a sanctuary from the relentless pace of corporate life.  The practice provided a sanctuary of heat and mindfulness, offering me a much-needed escape and a way to manage the stress of my demanding job.  What began as a personal retreat soon blossomed into a profound journey of self-discovery and transformation.  This rigorous practice, rooted in ancient yoga traditions, not only enhances physical strength and flexibility but also fosters mental clarity and emotional resilience, I fell in love with it instantly.

For years, I dreamt of leaving the corporate grind behind and embracing a career in teaching yoga.  In March of 2024, I completed a 100-hour training program, where I deepened my understanding of the practice and refined my teaching skills.  Today, I am thrilled to be living my dream and sharing the transformative power of original hot yoga with others. I am excited to continue my journey of growth and learning by pursuing additional training in the near future and expanding my teaching repertoire.

Please join me for a rejuvenating original hot yoga session, I look forward to guiding you on your path to wellness and transformation.

  • I’ve been practicing the original hot yoga since 2011 - my soul called out for a practice that weaved discipline, alchemy, inherent spirituality and physical challenge into one and after experiencing my first class I knew this is what I had been asking for.

In 2021 I devoted myself to my healing, to the reclamation of my soul, to living my purpose and it led me to becoming a yoga teacher, a guide into the deep inner work that supports soul growth and development, self-realization and experiencing the JOY! of being embodied.

My heart is overflowing with loveJOY!gratitude to be initiated and walking the ancient path of Yoga.

  • I was introduced to Yoga at SAC in 2004. I took it as a PE credit, learning many of the poses at that time. I also began to attend classes regularly, with a friend. Yoga and I just clicked. It was all about the practice itself that got me hooked. I even thought, “I can teach Yoga… I’m athletic, spiritual, and I want to help people!” That idea sat for years. It wasn’t until I graduated from Texas State and had been in the corporate world a while, when I stumbled upon a flyer for teacher training that would be on weekends, spread out over six months. I could work and train. Yes!

I received my 200hr teacher certificate in 2012. The timing was perfect. It had been a year since a rough break up, and I had been having stomach issues. I started training with a broken heart, esophagitis, a hiatal hernia, and gastritis, and I came out feeling freed, with no symptoms or stress. All my ailments were gone.

Through years of practice, continued study, and a couple thousand hours of teaching, yoga has become a great part of my life. For me, Yoga is about coming back to yourself. So many of us give and give, and we’re going, going all the time. We forget who we are.

Stepping onto the mat, I’m reminded to "just be" with myself again. In my classes I give detailed instruction to help bring awareness to the body and to the breath, allowing the mind to be present.

We build strength, find balance, and gain flexibility. We learn to embrace and experience the happenings in each moment. Through regular practice, I hope my students can take what they learn on the mat into their everyday life.

  • I’ve been practicing yoga for over 20 years, starting Bikram yoga in 2007. In 2023, I earned my 200-hour RYS certification, followed by my Hot 26 training in 2024. I truly believe yoga is for everybody—it’s a practice, not perfection, and it’s an incredible tool for both physical and mental healing.

My background in health and fitness runs deep. I studied Recreational Administration at Southwest Texas and spent 12 years teaching special education. After that, I became a personal strength trainer for eight years before finding my true calling as a yoga teacher. Helping people feel strong, confident, and connected to their bodies has always been my passion, and my goal is for every student to leave class feeling proud of what they’ve done for themselves.

Beyond yoga, my husband, Charlie, and I travel a lot. We have kids in Texas, Montana, and Hawaii. Half of the year is spent in Pai, Thailand, working with Shekina Gardens, an

organization that supports travelers and spiritual seekers in many ways, including Christ-centered yoga. In Texas, I assist my husband with his hospice chaplaincy work and spend time at the river with our crazy, ball-loving dog.

  • I have been teaching yoga since 2007, I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 years. I owned 2 studios in Albuquerque, New Mexico for almost a decade, and have continued to teach in the Hill Country after moving to New Braunfels in 2015.  My teaching style is always evolving with a focus on honoring the healing benefits of the Bikram sequence while also allowing space for change and spontaneity. I havebeen a part of a number of teacher trainings, and I also run my own Teacher Training and workshops out of my home studio, the Hot Yoga Lab (OHYA approved). After spine surgery in November of 2020, I got back in the room to heal and help others heal while learning patience through the exploration of our own limits each day.

“Moving back to Texas has been a wonderful adventure. It was just a few years ago, okay, maybe more than a few (over 20), that I received my MBA from TCU on a violin scholarship. Yoga was not even on my radar as a career. But a year after my daughter was born, I found this crazy yoga. This practice helped me to find “Me” again when I was a new mom. This yoga healed me and brought sanity to many insane challenges in my life. I want that for everyone. It is such an awesome experience getting to practice with my husband and also to teach him (Who doesn’t like to boss around their loved ones!). Since moving to Texas over the last decade, I have been able to step outside of my Bikram box as well. Branching out and teaching hatha, yin, fusion and flow, always with an alignment focus of course. It was new and exciting to teach yoga styles outside of the style I spent a decade and a half in. Honestly though, it helped me fall in love with the Hot 26 style even more and brought me back to my roots.  My focus is and has always been to help people improve their health, lessen chronic aches and pains, and to prevent injury.  And over these last few years, healing from surgery and injury has become at the forefront of my teaching. Correct alignment and form through dialogue commands are great strengths of mine.  When we speak to the bodies of our students it can help them safely through the journey of each posture.  This yoga saved me, it saved my husband, and I have watched it save many others along the way. I am no rock star yoga champion, and I may not be able to bend backward until my hands touch the floor…but I can help you to learn how to move correctly into and out of postures. We might even have a little fun doing it!  And now that I am relearning what my body can do after surgery, it has given me an entirely new perspective on modifications and my ability to help those with back problems and other chronic pain.  As one of my teachers always said“Pain is a precious gift”.The one most valuable lesson I have learned is that we are each our own best teacher.   Learn to be comfortable getting uncomfortable.  Making each student I teach feel welcome and most important safe within the space is my ultimate goal.

    See you on the mat!”

Off The Mat: If I am not "Professoring" at Texas State, or hopping on a plane to go see my daughter (my reason for being) at Georgetown University in D.C., or working my marketing job, then you will find me at home hanging out with my amazing husband of 27 years and our 3 adorable doggies. I absolutely love dogs and would rescue even more if I could. Someday I will have a ranch full of rescue Chihuahuas ! I love to organize and reorganize and declutter and especially enjoy nesting in my beautiful home. If I could make a living cuddling with my dogs and creating peaceful spaces to “just be”that is where you would find me 24/7

  • Bikram Yoga was introduced into my life in 2016, and it has truly remained a grounding point through intense physical, mental and emotional stress that otherwise might impact me negatively. The asana sequence, combined with the therapeutic benefits of the heat and humidity, has benefited me tremendously, to the point where I was willing to undergo the 300hr Pure Yoga Institute Teacher Training and commit to it being the first (of many) Yoga Instructor Certifications I wanted.

I hope to inspire that level of commitment to the practice in new and incoming students, as well as creating a persistent devotion for each student to seek within themselves this connection of the total practice of what Yoga entails, strength in body and mind!

  • Hey y'all.
Movement has always been an important part of my life. I have spent the majority of my life dancing and discovered a new love with yoga about 16 years ago. I decided to take my yoga a step further with a 200 hour RYA teacher training in 2015 and rounded out the education with the hot 26 training in 2019.

I absolutely love group fitness classes as they create a family, a community, personal accountability and amazing friendships.

When I'm not in the studio, I enjoy spending my time with my family (Jason, Faeryn, and our animal menagerie), friends, watching OU football, being by the water, watching a good show or reading a good book.

  • I discovered Bikram Yoga back in 2010. I was a distance runner & cardio queen with high anxiety that I managed with exercise & medicated with bulimia. A group of women in my Team-in-Training running club practiced Bikram regularly. I grew curious and joined for a class. I loved the idea of it, but mostly hated the actual practice of it for the first four months before it reeled me in & won me over. I put running on the backburner, quit my gym membership and completed my first 60 Day Yoga Challenge. 60 Classes in 60 Days. This was a monumental step forward on my journey to becoming a stronger, healthier version of me.

I kicked off my Yoga Teacher Training with a 200 hour RYT in 2020, which was the first of many programs, CE workshops and certifications. I practiced daily, immersed in theory and waited for the right time to embark on the rigorous Holy Grail 500 Hour Official Bikram Yoga Teacher Training.

Still on my bucket list. Considering Fall 2025 or Spring 2026. 9 weeks in Thailand.

For now I’m grateful to be at HYSM, getting started on my 300 hour Original Hot Yoga Association certification. I’ve been hosting morning classes where we all practice together. You might see me step in to teach a posture or two in some of our OH classes!

For me, Bikram Yoga is a powerful tool to heal the body and strengthen the mind. It’s balancing. Grounding. Challenging. Empowering. Energizing. And so much FUN!! I can always find room to grow in my practice. Repetition is mastery. It never gets old!

  • Yoga has changed my life and I believe it can change yours too!

At the age of 52 I took my first yoga class. I recently had a knee injury which left me unable to do any kind of physical activity. Over the next few years, I had 4 knee surgeries, and my knee just getting worse and worse. I had been a cyclist, a runner and triathlete and I needed an outlet. My sister suggested Hot Yoga - I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t just go outside and do yoga.  I ultimately went to a Hot Yoga class and was hooked! Not only did I find a physical outlet, but a way to connect with my mind too I was fully committed!

I ended up having a total knee replacement in 2020!  My doctor told me I would never be able to do “fixed firm” - if you come to class, you will probably see me do it!

In 2018 I took a leap of faith and  and went to Boulder to do my first Bikram hot yoga training with Esak Garcia. I completed a second Hot Yoga training in Texas completing over 250 hours.
